From the Ranch Manager, John Sellers:
Beginning Friday, September 1, 2023, there will be new guidelines regarding the purchase of water by POATRI member property owners.
These guidelines are as follows:
Sales will be recorded by property owner account numbers. This has always been the basis for eligibility to purchase water, but many people failed to write any information down on the form when purchasing water. Many owners have more than one tract, so the account number allows our staff to accurately monitor sales and usage.
Potable water:
Each account will continue to be eligible to receive 25 gallons of potable water, free of charge, each calendar week. (Sunday-Saturday)
Each account will be eligible to purchase an additional 50 gallons of potable water twice each month: once from the 1st through the 15th, and once from the 16th through the end of the month. The cost will be $0.25 per gallon.
Non-potable water:
Each account will be eligible to purchase up to 500 gallons of non-potable water twice each month: once from the 1st through the 15th, and once from the 16th through the end of the month. The cost will be $0.10 per gallon.
In total, each property account will be eligible to receive an average of 1,208 gallons per month or 39.7 gallons per day of total potable and non-potable water. During the last four months, no property owner exceeded this allotment of potable water, and only two accounts exceeded this total amount of water.
Our goal is to provide all property owners with long-term access to reliable water supplies. This policy will spread out the load on our wells throughout the month and protect our supplies in the future.
In the coming years, we will be installing water catchment systems on all Ranch buildings, gray-water systems for uses such as toilets, and other water protection and
conservation measures. As the number of active property owners on the Ranch grows, we will continue to work to maintain a safe, reliable supply of water for all our members.
